Wink High Speed Internet℠ is a wireless broadband Internet service available in certain areas of the City of Albany. Wink provides "WiFi" Internet connections at speeds up to 3Mbps for prices as low as $19.99/month.
Wink home service includes a compact, easy to install wireless modem that enables secure connections from indoors to the wireless network outside. Wink roaming service does not include a wireless modem, and instead allows users to surf the Internet directly from any WiFi-enabled device that has web navigation, like a laptop or smart phone. Standard Wink home service includes two connections: one for the stationary wireless modem and one for roaming.
Distinct from other area service providers, Wink does not require that customers enter into a service contract or pay for installation. Wink users also have access to toll-free, locally based customer support.

In 2006, Tech Valley Communications and the City of Albany partnered to launch a free Internet access service named "Albany FreeNet" provided via a municipal wireless network that TVC constructed in the downtown business corridor. Since then, the wireless network has undergone a significant expansion, making Albany FreeNet available to many more City residences, businesses and public spaces. Wink service is offered using the same unique network, which leverages Tech Valley Communications’ advanced fiber optic platform and industry-leading wireless radios to achieve high capacity and performance.
Revenues from Wink will help to subsidize the ongoing operation of Albany FreeNet for those who cannot afford or otherwise access broadband Internet service.
